lesson 1 of 7
What AI is for, and what it asks of us.
A tool changes what is easy. When something becomes easy, we do more of it — often without deciding to. So the first question about any powerful tool is not "what can it do" but "what will it make easy, and is that what we want more of?"
AI makes thinking-shaped work easy: drafting, summarizing, explaining, deciding. That is a gift and a hazard. Used with judgment, it gives you back time for the work only you can do. Used without it, it quietly replaces your judgment with a plausible average.
Care is paying attention to who is affected and how. A model does not care — it predicts. You are the part of the system that cares. That is not a limitation to be automated away; it is the point.
Across these seven lessons we will keep returning to one idea: the value you add is judgment, honesty, and care. The tool handles the rest. Learn to use it that way and you will be hard to replace, and good to work with.
The one idea
The value you add isn't the output — it's the judgment about what matters, the honesty about what's true, and the care for who is affected. Keep those, and AI makes you more capable, not less needed.
Each lesson is short and free to read. At the end you can take a brief reflection and earn a certificate — not because the certificate proves much, but because finishing things and marking them is its own small act of care.
